Yuram Abdullah Weiler first visited a mosque in Denver in November, 2003. “I will never forget the warm welcome I received,” he wrote. “In the carpeted but otherwise austere masjid (mosque), I experienced a calm sense of truth and peace like never before, and when I first prostrated on a disc of earth from Karbala, Iraq, I knew Islam was for me.
“Six months later, after much soul-searching and study, I formally accepted Islam by reciting the Shahada, the Islamic creed, ‘There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.'”
In my view, Weiler is the face of things to come in the West. I’ve read much of his introductory notes about Islam, and I know that he has integrated the stuff completely and that he will continue to be a well versed messenger in America for the Islamic Republic. He is sincere, he is skilled at using the language of the Civil Rights movement and the rhetoric of what used to be called the New Left:
Worldwide hunger is caused by a Western corporate-dominated food supply chain resulting in over 9 million deaths annually despite an abundance of food supplies. In America, one out of every four children is born into poverty with one out of every eleven living at less than one-half the poverty level. The U.S., with a political system designed to keep the poor in poverty, has almost 17 million families who are “food insecure”, political gibberish for malnourished.
Alas, the Western corporate-dominated system has nothing spiritual to offer beyond Hollywood and Reality Television, and so authentic-sounding Islamic voices will be able to burn through the dry brush of America faster than they have done in Europe. America and Western Europe have no idea how close they are to losing this war.
And no amount of drones can win it.
