The Israeli government has approved the establishment of a new support center for parents of special needs children as part of the strategic development plan for the Negev region.

The new center is to be developed under the auspices of the Social Services Ministry. Such services are desperately needed in the south, where the typical waiting list is at least 10 months long.

A hotline is to be set up to provide referrals for services, and support groups will be created to provide guidance for the parents as well.
