Egyptian tanks deployed in the Sinai Peninsula.

Security personnel discovered damage to a vehicle and a civilian structure on Saturday caused by a mortar shell that landed in Moshav Bnei Netzarim, along Israel’s southern border.

The explosion shattered the back windshield of a car in the parking lot of a synagogue in the moshav, and caused minor damage to the synagogue as well, according to Ynet.

“It appears that this is the result of spillover from the firing taking place across the border in Egypt,” the IDF Spokesperson said.

No physical injuries were reported.

Egyptian security forces are continuing to battle operatives from the Islamic State terrorist organization in the northern Sinai.
