Terrorist's knife

Border Police officers foiled a terror attack when they caught an Arab Jerusalem resident Tuesday with a large jackknife at the Shuafat crossing in northern Jerusalem.

The officers discovered the knife in the suspect’s coat during a routine search at the checkpoint.

When the knife was discovered the 16-year-old suspect — a resident of an eastern Jerusalem neighborhood — tried to grab it back from police.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the Border Guard Police precinct for interrogation.

Border Guard Police said in a statement following the arrest, “A combination of advanced technological means at the security crossings in the Jerusalem envelope, along with the professional and skilled forces of the Border Police, the police and the military enable forces to spot weapons and thus safeguard public safety.”
