New Jersey will provide as much as $1 million in grants to religious institutions, in the wake of a spate of threats against Jewish organizations around the country, Reuters reported, quoting Governor Chris Christie.

Religious and not-for-profit organizations in New Jersey counties can apply to the state’s Office of Homeland Security for grants of up to $50,000 each for security equipment – against evidence that they are “at high risk of terrorist attack,” the governor said.

The program supplements federal funding already available in NJ.
