“The Commission on the Status of Women itself includes some of the worst violators of human rights, such as Iran and Sudan.” Surprise, surprise.
“Honor killings in the Palestinian Authority are a matter of daily occurrence, and employment of women stands at only 17%.” Remember, it was the Palestine Liberation Organization, representing the Palestinian Authority, who co-sponsored this resolution.
“It is time for the Palestinians to finally take responsibility for something. Their mistreatment of women is a chance to start taking responsibility.” Why break their record?
“It’s not enough for the Palestinians to cynically exploit this institution; they’ve now made it their mission to turn the Commission on the Status of Women into a politically charged forum.” They’re allowed to politicize every single forum they enter, deliberately.
But why stop there? If Israel is held responsible for the “grave situation” of women in the Palestinian Authority, then why not hold Israel responsible for the PA’s death penalty imposed on Arabs who sell land to Jews? Or – if we must lend ourselves to the theater of the absurd, let’s go all out: blame Israel for the boycott on Israeli goods which led Fatah officials last week to break into and ransack an Israeli delivery truck bringing food to Hebron. Hold Israel responsible for everything in the Palestinian Authority.
But if Israel is going to take the heat for its sins, then the Palestinian Authority has come to the conclusion that Israel should also take responsibility for its government authority as well, no?
Which means Israel is being asked to subsume the PA, annex Judea, Samaria and Gaza once and for all, and put an end to this endless debate. An end to this endless warfare, with the IDF authorized to end it the way it should have been ended after the Yom Kippur War, and with the approval of the infinitely disapproving United Nations. The way it’s done in the rest of the neighborhood, by neighboring “peaceful” governments when unrest gets out of hand.
