Entitled 'Spectre of Shatila' this Palestinian Authority poster entry was rejected by the director-general of UNESCO due to hatred and anti-Semitism in the collection.

The Palestine Poster Project listed that poster under the Special Collection category as follows: Islamophobia/Jihadism/Anti-Palestinian propaganda/Anti-Arab racism/Orientalism Broadsides Cancelled/Censored/Compromised/Criticized Exhibits/Posters/Cultural Events Hasbara/Israel Advocacy/Zionist Propaganda.

In light of the beheadings and now the execution by fire of a Jordanian pilot by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) – also referred to by the group as a “jihad” — it’s important to understand the message acceptance of such a collection would have sent both to the global jihadists and to the international community.
