Israeli security and medical personnel rushed to the Binyamin Crossway (Road 465) near the Arab village of Dir abu Mashaal, after reports came in of an Arab car on fire.
By the time Israeli forces got there, Red Crescent ambulances were evacuating 3 people in unknown condition.
An initial investigation indicates that the car burnt up because of a firebomb.
What is not yet clear is if the firebomb was thrown at the car after the throwers mistook it for an Israeli vehicle, or if the passengers in the car were holding the firebomb preparing to throw it at a passing Israeli car and had a “work accident”, lighting themselves on fire instead of their target.
Security officials are examining both options.
Local residents scuffled with the IDF forces who arrived at the scene, and the IDF dispersed them with stun grenades.
The road was closed for a short time.
