Israel has accepted yet another pointless cease fire, this one to begin at midnight, to be preceded by the expected barrage of rockets on Israel at around 11:55pm. That does not include all those rockets that still continue to rain down on Israel at the moment, as Israel apparently chooses the path of maximum restraint and minimal results.
This latest cease fire, if it isn’t broken again by Hamas sometime in the beginning, middle or end of it, is planned to go on for 72 hours.
Israel has refused to negotiate with Hamas while Hamas continues to shoot at us, so that apparently was the impetus for this latest cease fire. If it holds, the Israeli negotiating team will head back to Cairo to hear more of Hamas’s unrealistic maximalist demands.
Strikingly, Hamas has not yet agreed to the cease fire.
Most Israelis are becoming fed up with the realization that the army was not allowed to finish the job in Gaza, and that Hamas wasn’t eradicated by the IDF as it should have been.
17 rockets have fallen on Israel since noon.
