The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM), a coalition of more than 850 organizations dedicated to combating antisemitism worldwide, is calling for legal action against Hamas and the nations that support and harbor its senior leadership, including Iran, Qatar, and Turkey. The demand follows the release of Israeli hostages, an event that CAM described as a stark reminder of the group’s brutality.

“Hamas’s actions are reminiscent of the Nazis, who also used murder, rape, torture, and starvation against innocent Jewish victims during the Holocaust,” said Sacha Roytman Dratwa, CAM’s chief executive. “International law as we know it was established after the Holocaust to ensure that such crimes against humanity would never happen again. And yet, they are unfolding before our eyes, met with indifference by the international community and many humanitarian organizations.”

Dratwa called for urgent legal measures targeting not only Hamas and its leaders but also countries that provide them with financial, political, or logistical support. “We must remain focused on the crimes of October 7,” he said, referencing the day of Hamas’s unprecedented atrocities inside Israel. “But we also need to hold accountable those responsible for the ongoing atrocities—including murder, rape, torture, and starvation—inflicted on Israelis and other nationals held captive in Gaza over the past 16 months.”

The Combat Antisemitism Movement describes itself as a global network that brings together more than five million people of diverse religious, political, and cultural backgrounds in a common mission to combat antisemitism. The organization says it works collaboratively to build a future free of hatred, not only for Jews but for all people.
