Israeli artillery fired two shells at a target east of Gaza City’s Shajaiya neighborhood on Saturday, after an Improvised explosive device (IED) had exploded near the security fence in the northern Gaza Strip. There were no casualties on the Israeli side, according to an IDF report.
Ma’an quoted eyewitnesses who said Israeli artillery positioned at the border of the Gaza Strip shelled twice a monitoring post belonging to Hamas east of the neighborhood of Shujaiya.
The IED explosion in the northern Gaza Strip was heard Saturday afternoon. The IDF immediately announced that Israeli forces had carried out a controlled detonation of an explosive device planted by Arab terrorists at the northern border of the Gaza Strip.
There have been at least five IEDs planted and detonated by the IDF on the borders of the Gaza Strip in recent weeks, the first of which injured two soldiers seriously.
