An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) carrying an explosive payload crossed the border from Gaza into Israel a few days ago, the IDF released for publication Monday morning.
Military sources said the drone was meant to explode in Israeli territory, presumably in one of the towns adjacent to the border. While the UAV did make the journey into the Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council, the explosives were never set off, and the UAV fell in Israeli territory without causing any injuries.
The UAV was taken by security forces for further investigation, a military spokesperson said.
“A few days ago, during the night hours, a UAV was located, estimated to have crossed the border into Israel from the Northern Gaza Strip,” the IDF Spokesperson said in a statement. “The UAV landed in territory belonging to the Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council. Explosives were discovered on the UAV,” he added.
