Israeli Air Force warplanes late Tuesday night attacked a number of terrorist targets in a Hamas military camp in the northern Gaza Strip. “The IDF considers the Hamas terrorist organization solely responsible for what is happening in and from the Gaza Strip,” the spokesperson said.
Apparently, Netanyahu’s decision to attack came hours after an IDF officer had been lightly injured by sniper fire during violent riots in the southern Gaza Strip.
The IDF said the sniper’s bullet hit the helmet of the officer, a company commander in the Paratroopers Brigade. The officer was evacuated to Soroka hospital in Be’er Sheva for treatment and has since been released.
The security coordinators in the communities surrounding the Gaza Strip issued a statement to the residents instructing them to monitor the developments and prepare their shelters for another tense night. “Following the events of the day and evening, we must be vigilant and close the iron windows in the security rooms,” the statement said.
The IDF Spokesperson’s Office issued a video of Tuesday’s tank shelling of a Hamas observation post in response to the shooting incident in the south. The video shows three Hamas terrorists standing near a post in the al-Bureij refugee camp, when suddenly an IDF tank shell hits the position and destroys it.
Gazan media reported that one of the activists, 24, was killed, and two others were wounded.
