The IDF and Shin Bet intelligence service announced in a joint statement Wednesday that military personnel have killed the Head of Hamas’ Anti-Tank Missile Unit in Gaza.

Based on IDF and Shin Bet intelligence, “An IDF fighter jet struck Muhammad A’sar, the Head of Hamas’ Anti-Tank Missile Unit in the Gaza Strip,” the statement said.

“A’sar was responsible for all of Hamas’ anti-tank missile units throughout the Gaza Strip, commanded the units in routine and assisted their activity in emergencies.

“Under his command, numerous anti-tank missile attacks were carried out against civilians and IDF soldiers.”

During a visit with troops at the Gaza border during the day, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant noted, “Our ground operations are effective. Our forces are reaching their targets and striking terrorists of all ranks.”

At least 16 IDF soldiers have fallen in combat since the start of the “Swords of Iron” war launched in response to the Oct. 7 invasion of southern Israel by Hamas terrorists and civilians from Gaza, and the horrific atrocities they committed while murdering more than a thousand Israeli civilians and some 300 IDF soldiers. Some 240 people, including Israelis and dual nationals, were abducted and dragged into Gaza by the invaders as well.
