In response, Israel carried out air strikes against the area from which the attack was launched.

“The IDF struck the launch site from which the projectile was fired, as well as an additional launch site in the area,” the IDF said in a statement.

The Israel Defense Forces raised their alert level near the Gaza border on Sunday evening following a situational assessment held by Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Chief of Staff LTG Herzi Halevi.

Speaking at an IDF cadet officers’ graduation ceremony in Be’er Sheva earlier in the day, Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that Israel is ready to resume fighting if necessary.

Phase 1 of the hostage release and ceasefire talks is set to expire on March 1; US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff is expected to arrive in the region this week to jumpstart talks on Phase 2.
