The Knesset Guard on Tuesday decided to attach a security detail to MK Oren Hazan (Likud) following the confrontation he had with families of Arab terrorists on their way to visit their sons in Nafha Prison in southern Israel.
On Monday, MK Hazan boarded a bus that was taking Arab families to Nafha, accompanied by members of the self-appointed Task Force for the Release of Prisoners and Missing Persons. He approached the mother of a terrorist prisoner and asked, “Whom did you come to visit? What has your son done?” To which she replied “He did not do anything.”
Hazan told the woman, “Your son is a dog. He’s a dog. You come to visit the scum who are sitting here in prison, whom you see as your family members.”
Speaking over the woman’s protests, Hazan vowed, “I will make sure that you cannot visit here any more and we’ll do everything so you will not get in. You are not welcome here, you have to understand this well, you raised your son’s murders.”
Turning to the rest of the families, Hazan said “I want to tell you all, your friends in Gaza are holding our brothers, Hadar Goldin, Oron Shaul and Avera Mengistu, and if you do not deliver this message at home that we want to get our children back, you will not come here anymore. If you continue to come here you will not see them alive.”
Following the incident, Hamas condemned Hazan as a sadist, saying his behavior mirrored that of “the occupation,” which the Knesset Guards evaluated as a threat on the MK’s life.
