Due to the ceasefire agreement, no one, including Israel, can prevent Hamas terrorists from controlling the main roads in the Gaza Strip. Also, since the ceasefire began, a significantly higher number of humanitarian aid trucks have been entering Gaza. According to Kan 11 News, under the cover of the ceasefire and the withdrawal of IDF forces, Hamas has established checkpoints at multiple locations along the main roads in the Gaza Strip, where it collects highway fees from truck drivers.

Hamas is stopping humanitarian aid trucks entering Gaza at checkpoints without IDF interference and imposing taxes on goods brought into the Strip, allowing the terror group to collect significant funds.
The Israel-Hamas agreement, signed in January 2025, requires the daily entry of at least 600 aid trucks into Gaza during the first six weeks of the truce, including 50 fuel trucks. Half of these trucks are designated for northern Gaza. According to the UN, over 4,200 aid trucks entered Gaza within the first six days of the ceasefire.
The humanitarian disaster on al-Rashid Street in Gaza took place on February 29, 2024, resulting in at least 118 Gaza Arab deaths and approximately 760 injuries. The incident occurred when thousands of Gaza residents rushed toward humanitarian aid trucks on al-Rashid Street.
According to the IDF, as the trucks moved toward distribution centers, a violent crowd of around 12,000 people surrounded them, looting the supplies. Many casualties resulted from crowd crushes, stampedes, and people being trampled. Additionally, an IDF force killed about ten Arabs, stating they had approached in a threatening manner.
PA Arab sources claimed that IDF forces opened fire on the crowd after the trucks had arrived, causing chaos that led to people being trampled and run over. Al-Jazeera published footage of the shooting. Reports from Al-Awda Hospital and Kamal Adwan Hospital indicated that many injured individuals had gunshot wounds, although those could have been fired by Hamas.
