Local reports said Israeli forces were operating in a new area of Gaza previously not addressed in other IDF operations.

Late Sunday night, IDF Sergeant Uriel Peretz, a 23-year-old resident of Beitar Illit, was killed in action during combat in northern Gaza.

Peretz served in the Kefir Brigade’s haredi Netzach Yehuda Battalion (97). He was killed after a terrorist fired an anti-tank missile at a building in which the troops were deployed in Beit Hanoun.

Three soldiers were severely wounded in the same confrontation; all were evacuated to a hospital for medical care, and their families were notified.
