While tens of thousands of Israelis, tourists and others were dancing and singing through the streets of Jerusalem on Wednesday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the reunification of the eternal capital of the Jewish People, another Jewish family was somberly appealing to the nations of the world not to give money to terrorists.
Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, held a panel discussion at the United Nations (May 24) in New York City on the “Glorification of Terror, Implications on the Victims and Their Families.”
The forum, which focused the impact of the Palestinian Authority government’s continuing practice of making monthly payments to murderous terrorists and to their families, was held in cooperation with the pro-Israel ‘Stand With Us’ organization.
U.S. citizen Ruth Schwartz, the mother of terrorist victim Ezra Schwartz, z’l, spoke at the event. Ezra Schwartz was killed in a terrorist attack in November 2015 while studying at a yeshiva in Gush Etzion and volunteering during his gap year.
Ezra’s mother called on member states of the United Nations not to reward people who kill by helping nations who support terror. Iran, for example, funds a number of terrorist organizations who are dedication to the destruction of the State of Israel and who constantly plan and carry out terror attacks against Israelis and Jewish targets around the world.
Danon also pointed out — as he has before, repeatedly — that a significant part of the foreign aid provided to the Palestinian Authority by members of the international community is used by the entity to support terrorism despite the claims by PA leader Mahmoud Abbas in English to U.S. President Donald Trump that he and his people are dedicated to “peace.”
The government of the Palestinian Authority spends millions of dollars each year paying salaries to Arab terrorists incarcerated in Israeli prisons, and to families of terrorists who are killed while attempting to kill Israelis — a fact that has been documented in detail by the watchdog organization, Palestinian Media Watch as well as by the State of Israel government.
