Ahead of a Knesset vote Monday on a bill would offset any stipend given by the Palestinian Authority to terrorists and their families by deducting the amount from taxes collected by Israel for the Palestinian Authority, the Defense Ministry has released figures detailing specific payments made by the PA, which in total amount to over a NIS 1 billion annually.
Among the payments detailed are those to Omar Abu Jalal, who was sentenced to four life sentences for stabbing to death three members of the Salomon family in their home in Halamish last July. Abul Jalal receives NIS 1,400 from the PA every month and has so far accumulated NIS 12,200. By the time he is 80, the amount of money he is set to receive for the murder is NIS 12,604,000.
Another example is Abed Alhakis Aasi, who stabbed Itamar Ben Gal to death at a junction outside of Ariel in February. Aasi was convicted just one month ago, and will also receive NIS 1,400 from the PA monthly, for his first three years in prison, after which his stipend is set to grow according to the PA payscale.
Should any prisoner die in an Israeli prison, his family will continue to receive funding.
The amount to be deducted from the PA under the terms of the bill will be transferred to a special fund aimed at aiding Israeli victims of terror and their families.
