Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas reportedly plans to form a new government in the next two weeks, according to a report published by Haaretz.
PA Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah is expected to step down, and a new cabinet is to be announced – with all this to take place before a group of ten rival Palestinian Authority factions are to gather for a meeting in Moscow.
Fatah, Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and a host of other terrorist factions are set to meet on Feb. 13 in Moscow, Haaretz reported.
Fatah Central Committee member Mohammed Shtayyeh, PLO Executive Committee Secretary-General Saeb Erekat, Palestine Investment Fund chairman Mohammad Mustafa and Civil Affairs Minister Hussein Sheikh are all allegedly in the running as top-tier candidates for prime minister.
According to the report, Abbas is attempting to recruit members of the Democratic Alliance, the Palestinian National Initiative and others to become part of the new government, which he has said will be formed without Hamas.
