The opinion editor at The Maple, a “reader funded publication” has created a database listing the names of Canadians who have served in the Israel Defense Forces.

The project was launched by Davide Mastracci, who announced in a post on X that he has “created a database containing profiles of 85 Canadians that have fought in the Israeli military.”

Mastracci said on the website that his goal is to identify “where each soldier was born and grew up, what schools and institutions they attended, when they joined the Israeli military and why, if their participation was encouraged by family members and social networks, what they did in the military and what they’ve had to say about it, and what they’ve done since.”

Among a list of three disclaimers designed to prevent legal action against the publication — and Mastracci — was this little gem: “We’re not accusing these soldiers of having violated any Canadian law or participated (sic) in Israeli military crimes.”

The disclaimers are followed by an article about “The Average Lone Soldier,” who Mastracci describes as a “white Jewish man born and raised in Canada who immigrated to Israel in their late teens with the express purpose of joining its military.”

The article claims the Canadian IDF lone soldier is “most likely to have grown up in a Greater Toronto Area neighborhood with a larger-than-average proportion of Jewish residents in what they’d describe as a Zionist household.”

And on and on and on, ad nauseum.

“This is the largest such collection of names and stories in Canada by far,” Mastracci boasts in his post on X.

“For the better part of the past century, some Jews in Canada have been travelling to Israel to fight alongside other Jewish Zionists from around the world,” The Maple states on a separate website page entitled “Find IDF Soldiers.”

“At first, these Canadians along with some non-Jewish ones, fought with Zionist militias to establish the State of Israel, which was done through the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from their land,” the publication claims.

“In the decades since, at least hundreds of Jewish Canadians have willingly joined the Israeli military and aided the state in its wars and occupation of neighboring land.”

The publication accuses the IDF of ethnic cleansing, war crimes, apartheid and genocide.

“If you know of any Canadian who has ever been in the Israeli military who is not included on our website, please reach out to us to let us know,” The Maple urges its readers on the ‘Find IDF Soldiers’ page.

“You should share their name, how you know that they were in the military and any public sources you may have that prove this.”
