A senior Israel Defense Forces civil liaison commander is at risk of being taken into custody in Italy due to another lawfare move by the Belgium-based Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF).

HRF, created in September 2024, is linked to Iran’s Lebanese proxy, the Hezbollah terrorist organization. HRF chairman Dyab Abou Jahjah is a known supporter of Hezbollah, according to the Jerusalem-based NGO Monitor watchdog organization.

Major General Ghassan Alian, Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) was targeted by the anti-Israel organization in a request filed with an Italian court urging his arrest.

HRF urged Italian authorities to “immediately” arrest the COGAT chief for “genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes,” the organization said in a statement on its website.

Earlier this month, a judge in Brazil directed local law enforcement to take immediate action against IDF soldier Sa’ar Hirshoren, a survivor of the Nova music festival massacre on October 7, 2023.

The order to arrest Hirshoren, who was vacationing in Brazil, came in response to an “urgent” request by HRF, which accused the soldier of war crimes.

The IDF has since updated its media regulations to protect soldiers and officers from global pro-terror elements attempting to imprison Israelis abroad over claims of “genocide” and “war crimes” in Gaza.
