Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meets with UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov

The situation in Gaza was on the agenda when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met Monday with United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nickolay Mladenov.

Netanyahu and Mladenov discussed how to de-escalate tension in Gaza while resolving humanitarian issues, the UN envoy said, along with other regional issues as well.

Mladenov tweeted Monday evening that the meeting was “very constructive” but said little else.

Mladenov also met with Education Minister Naftali Bennett, he wrote in a post on Twitter. “Israeli communities in the South and Palestinians in Gaza have lived long enough in fear,” he wrote.

“We need to resolve all humanitarian issues, support UN and Egyptian efforts and step back from the brink.”
