A 45-year-old resident of Katzrin, known as the “capital of the Golan,” was arrested by police on suspicion of hunting cats and eating them. The arrest was carried out following a report of a sharp smell from the suspect’s home.

In their search of the suspect’s home police found an ax with which he apparently slaughtered the cats. Inside the refrigerator they found cat meat and skin.

The suspect was arraigned on Wednesday at the Kiryat Shmona Magistrate’s Court remanded to prison. He is suspected of the illegal killing of animals and of animal abuse.
