In other words, Feigling expressed no interest at all in repressing gay rights, but objected instead to the imposition of gay values on society through political means. Many will argue that homosexual families can be just as essential to society as heterosexual families are, and it’s possible that even Feiglin himself may have modified his views after his personal dialogues with gays—but it is clear that he simply is not a homophobe, unless we were to declare than anyone objecting to homosexual politics is necessarily a homophobe.
Moshe Feiglin commented by email to JNi.Media: “Sadly, a number of official associations in Australia have been misled by organizations that are apparently led and funded by elements hostile to Israel (through the New Israel Fund). The claims publicized against me do not contain facts or real proof. Some of the accusations are lowly lies and others are complete distortions of sentences and ideas that I have written in the past. Most of the founders of the Zehut movement are not observant. They include non-Jews, feminists and homosexuals. Most of the members of the governing board of the movement are women. Zehut advocates true liberty and freedom of speech – not the ‘pluralism’ displayed by those organizations.”
