Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Tuesday during an address to the Ninth Galilee Conference in Ma’alot-Tarshiha that Israel “views with utmost gravity” the attacks against its communities by Gaza’s ruling Hamas terrorist organization, and the allied Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group.
“The IDF will respond with great force to these attacks,” Netanyahu warned. “Israel will exact a heavy price from anyone who tries to attack it, and we view Hamas as responsible for preventing such attacks against us.”
Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman also warned in remarks on Tuesday that the IDF will not hesitate to attack any launch site from which rockets were fired at Israel.
“Every place from which the terrorist organizations fire into Israeli territory is a legitimate target for the air force to attack, with all that entails,” Liberman said. “On behalf of all the people of Israel, I wish to commend the soldiers and commanders of the IDF for their dedication and determination, and the residents of the Gaza Belt region for their fortitude.
“They act in every way possible to ensure security and quiet for the citizens of Israel,” Liberman said.
