Eliezer Feldstein and Ari Rosenfeld were indicted by the State Attorney’s Office for jeopardizing state security by transmitting classified information to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to a Reshet Bet radio report on Thursday, Defense Minister Israel Katz has requested an investigation by the defense system’s comptroller into alleged flaws in the probe of Eli Feldstein and his associate Ari Rosenfeld.

Rosenfeld, a reserve NCO, allegedly leaked the document in April 2024 to Feldstein, a member of the prime minister’s media team. Feldstein then allegedly provided the document to the German Daily Bild after the IDF censor blocked its publication in Israel.

The document, which had been published months earlier by News12 journalist Amit Segal, became the basis of a September 6 report claiming that Hamas was not interested in a ceasefire deal. Instead, it sought to prolong negotiations to buy time to rebuild its military capabilities, wear down Israel’s forces, fuel internal dissent, and place the blame on Netanyahu for the failure to reach an agreement.

And, as Netanyahu pointed out, the Hamas strategy worked, leveraging thousands of useful Israeli idiots to rally in the streets against the government and sowing confusion in Israeli society.

The judicial system dealt most harshly with both whistleblowers who dared inform the prime minister about a crucial Hamas document, a document the security establishment desperately wished to conceal from the public.

DM Katz stated that he had received inquiries about failures in the investigations of Feldstein and Rosenfeld. He requested an investigation by an audit unit within the Defense Ministry, which is responsible for reviewing deficiencies in the IDF and other security agencies.

The minister’s request followed a Kan 11 News report on Wednesday night revealing that Katz had refused for weeks to sign confidentiality certificates in the classified documents case. He only signed them at the beginning of the week after being warned by his ministry’s legal counsel that delaying his signature could be seen as improper interference in the criminal proceedings.

The confidentiality certificate permits the prosecution to conceal documents from the public and the government so that without it, the trial cannot proceed for fear of revealing state secrets – such as who decided to keep the prime minister out of the loop regarding the Hamas “useful idiots strategy” documents.

Katz believed that before signing the certificate, allegations of flaws in the Feldstein and Rosenfeld investigation needed to be addressed, lest the security establishment use the concealment permit to hide its guilt.

It should be noted that every single legal counselor in the various government ministries is controlled by the Attorney General, who also controls the state prosecution. In other words, once again government bureaucrats prove their dominion over elected officials in Israel.

File this under the usual, “How come I keep voting right and getting left?”

And so, his office’s legal counsel made it clear to the minister that this was not at his discretion, and that he had to sign the affidavit that shielded those responsible for keeping Netanyahu in the dark.

As you may recall, on the night between October 6 and 7, the security establishment decided to keep the prime minister in the dark regarding intelligence suggesting Hamas was planning to scale the border fence separating Gaza from the neighboring Israeli kibbutzim and towns.

Sources familiar with the matter told Kan11 that the delay in signing caused a delay in the start of the trial. The indictment against Feldstein and Rosenfeld was filed about three months ago, and the trial is expected to begin Thursday, with the two defendants expected to respond to the charges against them.

The Defense Ministry declined a request for comment.
