Arab MKs and community leaders protest Israeli police's failure in preventing Arab violence, May 6, 2018.

The Higher Arab Monitoring Committee which convened on Wednesday in the village of Majd al-Krum Majd al-Krum in the Upper Galilee in response to the double murder that took place Tuesday in the same village, is examining a series of protests, including declaring a general strike on Thursday and a rally in front of police headquarters.

Since the start of 2019, there have been more than 70 Arab-on-Arab murders in Israel.

The Higher Arab Monitoring Committee is an independent political organization whose aim is to coordinate the political actions of various Israeli-Arab bodies. The Committee is comprised of Arab MKs, Arab local council heads and representatives of different streams in the Arab sector.

Joint Arab List chairman MK Ayman Odeh proposed blocking major traffic intersections throughout Israel. His Knesset faction plans to boycott the swearing-in ceremony of the new Knesset, to protest the Arab-on-Arab murders.

45% of homicides in Israel are committed inside Arab society, which is only 21% of the population. 42% of serious assaults committed in Israel are carried out by and within Arab society. 65% of women who are murdered by their spouses in Israel are from Arab society.

So far, here are solutions the Higher Arab Monitoring Committee did not bring up, nor will it bring them up any time soon:

  • Add information against violence to the permanent school curriculum.
  • Legislation to enhance punishment of illegal gun owners.
  • Recommend extensive raids in Arab villagers to confiscate illegal weapons.
  • Using a snitch program rewarding information bout illegal firearm owners.

There must be smart, educated Israeli Arabs who know better than to blame the police, discrimination, “apartheid,” for the fact that Arabs keep killing each other? We recommend consulting the Book of Genesis 16:11-12 on the nature of Ishmael, father of all the Arabs, as told to his mother Hagar:

“And the angel of the Lord said unto her, Behold, thou art with child and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the Lord hath heard thy affliction. And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall live at odds with all his kinsmen.”

It’s what he does.
