What a present for Israel on the day we celebrate the 51st anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem.
On Saturday night, Netta Barzilai won the Eurovision 2018 contest for Israel, with her very unusual chicken-oriented song “Toy”.
Israel received 529 points, while its closest competitor Cyprus, received 436.
Prime Minister Netanyahu wrote on Twitter, “Netta, you brought a lot of honor to the State of Israel. Next year in Jerusalem!”
As a result or her victory, Eurovision will be held in Israel next year, quite possibly in Jerusalem.
Israel previously won the contest in 1998 (Diva), 1979 (Halleluyah) and 1978 (A-Ba-Ni-Bi).
Thousands of Israelis went up Kikar Rabin in Tel Aviv and Machane Yehuda in Jerusalem to celebrate.
