President Donald Trump’s visit Monday and Tuesday comes with a series of major roadblocks country-wide, as well as at Ben-Gurion International Airport – where the US President will be landing accompanied by 20 US Air Force planes. So, while that’s going on, Highway 1, the main artery from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, will be secured.
That’s the same highway, incidentally, where the moving trucks with the desks and the computers and whatnot would be using should the President announce the embassy move…
So, Highway 1 will be blocked in both directions starting at 12:15 PM, from the Ganot interchange to Ginot Sakharov. The highway will be gradually opened to traffic as the entourage progresses.
At Ben-Gurion International Airport, international flights will be transferred from the old Terminal 1 to the new Terminal 3 from Monday until Wednesday. That means that all the low-cost flights scheduled to depart from Terminal 1 from 3 AM Monday until 3 AM Wednesday will be going out of Terminal 3. Domestic flights to and from Eilat will not change.
In Jerusalem the following streets will be blocked gradually starting at 12 noon, Monday: Derech Hebron, David Remez, King David, Jabotinsky, Hanasi, the Ari, Aza, Palomar, Hativat Yerushalayim, Jaffa Gate, Agron, Keren Hayesod, Balfour and Smolenskin.
According to police, the public will be able to travel using alternative routes in the direction of Sderot Herzl, the Kiryat Moshe interchange onto Begin South, Haim Bar Lev in the direction of Agron, and Ben Zvi in the direction of Rabin.
Toll Highway 6 will be closed to traffic from Nachshonim interchange to Nesharim interchange in both directions. The closure of the road will begin shortly before Trump’s landing at Ben-Gurion Airport, and continue following to the presidential convoy’s progress. The same plan will be carried out on Tuesday, starting around 3 PM.
On Tuesday, starting at 8:30 AM, the following streets will be closed to the public: David King, David Remez, Hebron Road, Minchat, Rachel’s Passage, Gichon, Tzeruya, Ein Rogel, Hebron Road, Bethlehem Road northbound, Harakevet northbound, Aza, Herzog, Bait, Bezeq , Shneur, Burla, Mount Herzl and Yad Vashem.
The public will be able to travel using alternative routes: Agron, Haim Bar-Lev, Jaffa Gate, Hebron-Hasmonean Road, Keren Hayesod, Emek Refaim, Begin, Herzl and Ramban.
