The Hagag Group Real Estate Development On Sunday announced a surprising addition to their new project at the Herzliya Marina: Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio joined as an investor and partner in the new hotel, which was designed by architect David Rockwell.
The planned project includes construction of a luxury hotel with 180 suites in two six-floor buildings with a swimming pool between them. 130 of the 180 suites will be offered for sale as time-shared vacation apartments.
DiCaprio will work with the Hagag Group to promote the hotel and ensure that it meets the highest environmental and hotel development standards. The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation is devoted to promoting environmental awareness, most notably regarding global warming, preserving Earth’s biodiversity and supporting renewable energy. It is involved in projects in 40 countries.
The Herzlia hotel will comply with the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and be certified by its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating systems.
The Hagag group issued a statement saying, “We are proud to be partners with an investor and strategic partner on a global scale. The combination of groundbreaking design, the wonderful location on the Marina’s waterfront, and our deep commitment to protecting the environment make the project particularly exciting.”
“Mr. DiCaprio is a world-renowned environmental activist, and we welcome his decision to take part in the project, in order to ensure that the development of this project will be carried out while maintaining the principles of environmental protection,” the statement continued.
