Jerusalem police has completed its preparations for the state visit of US Vice President Joe Biden in Israel, a police press release stated Tuesday. The visit will take place between Tuesday, March 8 and Thursday, March 10. VP Biden will sleep each night in Jerusalem.
Police, Border Guard and regional reinforcements will be deployed until the conclusion of the Biden visit to maintain public order, while stressing the need to limit the interruption of the capital city’s normal life.
The VP and his entourage will arrive in Jerusalem on Tuesday night. As he moves through the city, some traffic arteries will be closed temporarily. At 9 PM or thereabout the main entrance road to Jerusalem will be closed from the end of Route 1 to Shazar Street, Ramban, and up to Yitzhak Kariv Street, where the VP will likely stay at the David Citadel hotel.
On the VP’s way to the eternal city, many arteries will be closed between Ben Gurion International and Jerusalem. From 5 to 6:30 PM expect Route 1, the Ayalon highway and Route 2 to also be closed intermittently.
