Jordan’s King Abdullah last week met with two minor Jewish American representatives during his stay in Washington, DC last week: J Street’s Vice President of Government Affairs Dylan Williams and Director of Government and International Affairs at the American Jewish Committee (AJC) Jason Isaacson. They discussed “ways to revive the Middle East peace talks on the basis of the two-state solution.”
For reasons we’ll discuss shortly, no news outlet other than Jordan’s own media covered the meeting. We opted to report on it because of our dedication to raising the red flag when the enemies of the Jewish State appear to regroup and scheme yet another attack on their favorite target.
At the meeting, as reported by the Jordanian state news agency Petra and by the Jordan Times, the King “highlighted the role of American Jewish organizations in pushing for a re-launch of the Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations.”
The two Jews “lauded the King’s relentless efforts to achieve peace and his vision to build a better future for the region’s people. They also spoke favorably of the King’s moderate policies and his efforts to promote the values of tolerance and coexistence.”
Just to stay current on the King’s recent achievements in tolerance and coexistence, here are a few concerns raised by human rights organizations regarding Jordan, which in January sentenced a university professor to two years in jail for posting a critical item on his Facebook page:
·Limitations on the right of citizens to change their government peacefully (Jordan is a monarchy, you know)
·A newly drafted electoral law that perpetuates significant under representation of urban areas and citizens of Palestinian origin in leadership positions
·Cases of arbitrary deprivation of life, torture, poor prison conditions, impunity, arbitrary arrest and denial of due process through administrative detention, and prolonged detention
·Breaches of fair trial standards and external interference in judicial decisions infringements on privacy rights
·Limited freedoms of speech and press, and government interference in the media and threats of fines and detention that encourage self-censorship
·Restricted freedoms of assembly and association
·Legal and societal discrimination and harassment of women
·Legal and societal discrimination and harassment of religious minorities and converts from Islam
·Legal and societal discrimination and harassment of members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community
·Loss of Jordanian nationality by some citizens of Palestinian origin
·Restricted labor rights ·Abuse of foreign domestic workers
And so, this pillar of human rights and tolerance met with representatives of two fringe Jewish groups to urge along the peace between the Jews that His Majesty King Abdullah’s agents won’t permit to make a blessing on an apple on Temple Mount (with the full cooperation of Netanyahu’s government), and the Palestinians His Majesty is repressing as a matter of law in his own country — where they constitute an estimated 80% majority.
In an interview with the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Vice President of Government Affairs at J Street Dylan Williams “described the King’s meeting with US President Obama as fruitful. The meeting, he added, reflected the importance of strong bilateral relations, which, he said, are a priority for anyone who wants to see a stable and prosperous Middle East.”
J Street also applauded President Obama’s signing statement on a bill intended to protect Israel against BDS attacks in the US and abroad: Obama noted that as far as he’s concerned, said protection does not extend to Judea and Samaria. And J Street lapped it up. Because hurting Jewish communities and the Arabs that work for them is just the thing that urges peace along.
American Jewish Committee Director of Government and International Affairs Jason Isaacson “underlined Jordan’s pivotal role led by King Abdullah in pushing the peace process forward in order to achieve security and stability in the Middle East.”
Of course, His Majesty should—and is—more concerned with his own stability in the Middle east, as his kingdom is being flooded by 1.3 million Syrians, and stands to be taken over at any time by the Caliphate hordes, if not for the protection extended by the US and Israel.
In other words, a more fitting headline to this report would have been: Three Fringe Politicians Meet in Washington. Which is why no news outlet save for Jordan’s own carried the story.
