Israel is warning Lebanon the current ceasefire will end if the Hezbollah terrorist organization does not withdraw to the agreed-upon area north of the Litani River.
Speaking during a Sunday morning visit to view a display of weapons seized from Hezbollah in Lebanon by the IDF Northern Command, Defense Minister Israel Katz said the government is interested in upholding the current ceasefire agreement.
IDF Brigadier General Segev Dahan and other commanders at Northern Command joined Katz in reviewing the extensive weapons seized from Hezbollah headquarters and bases.
Katz also received an operational and intelligence update on IDF activity in Lebanon and praised the commanders and fighters for their uncompromising enforcement against Hezbollah’s violations.
Israel will continue to enforce the ceasefire” fully and without compromise,” Katz said.
But the first condition for upholding the agreement, he said, is the complete withdrawal of the Hezbollah terrorist organization to the area north of the Litani River, along with dismantling of all the terrorist organization’s weapons and its terrorist infrastructure by the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) — “something that has not yet happened,” he pointed out.
“If this condition is not met, there will be no agreement and Israel will be forced to act on its own to ensure the safe return of the residents of the north to their homes,” Katz warned.
“We will not allow a renewed threat to be created against the northern communities and the citizens of the State of Israel.”
