Yesterday, the first ever maternity hospital opened in southern Syria, near the town of Bariqa on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights, inside the demilitarized zone along the Syrian-Israeli border – only a few hundred yards from the border fence.
In the years since the Syrian civil war began, in 2011, area sick and pregnant women were admitted in a field hospital set up by the IDF for the Israel-aligned rebels and their families on the Israeli border.
The first maternity hospital in southern Syria has two brand new ambulances equipped to treat pregnancy-related emergencies. The hospital is also outfitted with state-of-the-art obstetrics and gynecology equipment, as well as modern incubators.
