The Syrian Army air defenses intercepted an Israeli aerial attack that targeted one of the military positions near Massyaf City in the Hama northern countryside, SANA reported, citing a military source.
According to the source, at about 02:30 AM on Saturday, Israeli warplanes conducted an airstrike from Lebanese airspace on one of the military positions near Massyaf City. The source added that the Syrian air defenses immediately intercepted the hostile missiles and downed some of them before reaching their targets.
Then the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the Israeli air attacks hit three targets, wounding 17 Syrian soldiers. They reported there were also deaths, but were was not clear how many were killed.
It said the targets included a military academy as well as a missile development center in a village near Masyaf. In this area there is extensive activity by Iranian and Hezbollah forces and it has been attacked several times over the past few years. The main target there, the Center for Scientific Research, was attacked in July 2018. It was used by the Assad regime, Iranian forces, and Hezbollah to store ballistic missiles.
