Israeli aerial defense systems identified at least one Syrian missile was headed towards an open area of the Israeli Golan Heights shortly after the start of the attack on an Iranian military base near Damascus late Thursday night, the IDF said.

“During a Syrian surface-to-air missile launching, one launch was identified towards an open area in the Golan Heights,” the IDF Spokesperson said in a statement.

“At this point, it remains unclear if the launch indeed landed in Israeli territory.”

Israeli military forces were deployed to search the area for exploded or fallen ordnance.
