Millions of Syrians have begin voting for the next president of Syria at voting booths throughout the country, or at least in areas under Syrian president Assad’s control.

Current Syrian president Bashar al-Assad is expected to “win” against his opponents Hassan al-Nouri, a businessman and former government minister, and Maher Hajjar, a lawmaker. This is the first time that Assad has not run unopposed.
