A new website was launched this week highlighting Israel for the benefit of Jewish and non-Jewish Bible readers.
TheIsraelBible.com emerges from a print version of “The Israel Bible” published over the past two years by Israel365 and completed this past October. Printed in 20 softcover volumes, “The Israel Bible” includes the entire text of the Tanakh in English and Hebrew along with an original commentary on all 929 chapters. The commentary was developed by a team of ten leading Israeli educators and tour guides.
TheIsraelBible.com features many innovations such as interactive Google maps and videos. Readers are encouraged to comment and contribute to conversations centered around the biblical text, and the mobile friendly website utilizes gamification techniques by rewarding readers with points so they can advance to the levels of Shepherd, Scribe, Judge, Prophet and King. “It’s our goal to find new ways to use modern technology to bring Israel and the Tanakh to life” said Rabbi Tuly Weisz, publisher of TheIsraelBible.com. “I hope that TheIsraelBible.com allows us to share Israel’s physical beauty and its great biblical significance with people all over the world in an exciting, modern way.”
TheIsraelBible.com targets Jews and pro-Israel Christian Zionists. The entire text of the Tanakh is offered in both English and Hebrew, along with an audio component so readers can hear the Hebrew text. “While Jews take for granted the fact that the Torah is meant to be heard in Hebrew, for our non Jewish readers it’s a real treat to be able to listen to the Bible in its original language,” Weisz said.
