Jerusalem District Border Guard Police caught an Arab woman carrying a knife at midday Wednesday near the Tomb of the Biblical matriarch Rachel, on the southern outskirts of Jerusalem.
The woman, a 36-year-old resident of the Hebron suburb of Yatta, located about an hour south of Jerusalem, is a citizen of the Palestinian Authority.
The knife was discovered during a routine search of the woman’s bag at the checkpoint outside the entrance to Rachel’s Tomb.
Initial questioning by police officers indicated the woman intended to carry out a terror attack. She was detained for further questioning.
