According to Ma’an, a large group of Jews on Monday night entered the village of Awarta, five miles southeast of Shechem, and held religious services at the gravesites of Elazar and Itamar the sons of Aaron the priest, Pinchas and his son Avishua, and the seventy elders.
Local Arabs told Ma’an that during the prayers, the Jewish visitors broke the windows and slashed the tires of a number of vehicles parked on the sides of the road.
In the village of Jit, west of Shechem, anti-Arab graffiti was sprayed on a few cars. The graffiti slogans offered the traditional “Death to the Arabs” and “Transfer Now,” as well as the curious “Regards to Yitzchak Gabai,” which may not be anti-Arab at all but an example that you can engage in vigilante activities without giving up your sense of humor.
On October 31, 2011, the tomb of Elazar the priest in Awarta was desecrated in Arabic graffiti.
