A coordinated operation of Shabak and Israel Police has led in late January to the arrest of Mustafa Naguib Mohamed Nazzal, 33, a resident of the refugee camp Qabatiya, 4 miles south of Jenin in Samaria, who left in 2007 to study in Egypt. Nazzal belongs to an organization called Kitab Al Mujahidin (Holy Warriors Brigades), a terror organization that has split from the PLO’s Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and adopted extremist Islamist features.
Terrorists from this new outfit have committed several attacks against Israeli targets in recent years, including shooting rockets at Israel and trying to drive terrorist acts inside green-line Israel. The organization maintains close ties with Hamas, including operational connections, instruction and guidance, weapons supply, and training. The organization also receives funding from Hamas.
Nazzal confessed during his interrogation that while in Egypt he was active in locating and recruiting students from Judea and Samaria, sending them to the Gaza Strip fro training and then returning them to Judea and Samaria. He said that the recruitment effort was intended as part of an endeavor to construct a military infrastructure to carry out terrorism in Judea and Samaria.
