Tayasir is an Arab village in the Palestinian Authority, located in northern Samaria, 3 kilometers northeast of Tubas and 22 kilometers northeast of Shechem. It is part of the “Village Pentad,” a five-village area where the IDF has expanded its Operation Iron Wall in the Jenin area. IDF forces man roadblocks in Taysir and the nearby villages of Tamun and Tubas along key routes used by PA Arabs. This is aimed at pressuring terrorists attempting to flee from Jenin and the villages where the IDF is operating.
The IDF spokesman stated that “the shooting targeted a military position, and the soldiers returned fire, killing the terrorist.”
MDA Director-General Eli Bin reported that seven people were injured in the attack, including two in critical condition and two with moderate injuries.
In recent months, terrorist activity originating from the five villages has intensified, including the planting of explosive devices on roads and the use of newly acquired weapons to carry out attacks.
A joint statement this week by the IDF and Shin Bet reported that, so far, our forces have eliminated more than 35 terrorists and arrested more than 100 wanted individuals during the operation in northern Samaria. The statement also noted that in a preliminary operation, airstrikes eliminated more than 15 terrorists. Additionally, forces have seized dozens of weapons, destroyed hundreds of explosive devices, and neutralized dozens more that had been planted on roads to target troops.
