A similar explosion took place Sunday in the community of Netiv Ha’Asara.

In addition, at around 7:50 pm Monday evening, another balloon with a homemade bomb attached to it landed near the Saad junction (in the direction of Kibbutz Nahal Oz).

Sappers from the bomb squad were summoned to neutralize the explosive that was attached to the beautiful balloon, Shaar HaNegev district spokesperson Adi Meiri said.

Balloon bombs also landed Monday in Sderot and Kiryat Gat, police said.

By 9 pm Monday evening, more than a dozen balloon bombs were launched from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory.

“In light of several such events in recent days, we are again reminding the public: In any case where a suspicious object is detected, immediately report the item to the Israeli police by calling the hotline at 100. DO NOT TOUCH THE OBJECT,” police said in a statement.

“Stay a safe distance away from it and keep everyone else away from it until the arrival of Israeli police officers. Only professional sappers – the police bomb squad personnel — are authorized to handle suspicious objects and possess professional protection equipment and appropriate.”
