An IDF soldier was lightly wounded Monday morning after a terrorist stabbed him near the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron.
The assailant arrived at Hebron’s Avraham Avinu neighborhood and stabbed the soldier, who responded by firing at him, along with other soldiers at the site.
The terrorist was killed and the soldier was evacuated for medical treatment.
The IDF Spokesperson’s Office said that the details of the incident were under investigation.
Last week, there was a similar stabbing attempt in Samaria, when an Arab arrived at the Gitai Avishar junction near Ariel and tried to stab a soldier. The terrorist was shot dead on the spot and there were no other casualties.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the terrorist had arrived and began to run toward the soldiers who were in the area with a knife in his hand. One of the soldiers, from the 55th Battalion of the Artillery Corps, fired and killed him.
