Cafe Hillel after a suicide bombing which murdered 7 and wound 57. Sept. 9, 2003.

Terrorist Na’el Abid, who was serving 7 life sentences plus 30 years for his role in the suicide bombing at Cafe Hillel on Emek Refaim street in Jerusalem, in 2003, unexpectedly died this weekend. Abid had been released a week ago as part of the hostage deal with Hamas, in exchange for Sagui Dekel-Chen, Alexander (Sasha) Troufanov, and Yair Horn.

Abid reportedly fell from the roof of a three (or six) story building near his home in Isawiya, a neighborhood in eastern Jerusalem. Fatah sources say he jumped, according to a report by Abu Ali Express.

Seven people were killed in that Hillel Cafe bombing, including Dr. David Applebaum (51), Nava Applebaum (20), David Shimon Avizadris (51), Shafik Kerem (27), Alon Mizrachi (22), Gila Moshe (40), and Yechiel (Emil) Tubol (52). 57 people had been wounded in the terror attackץ

There’s a possibility that Abid was suspected to be a collaborator (since he was not deported like the others) and was killed by his fellow terrorists. Alternatively, there’s a growing rumor (and perhaps expectation) that a number of the released terrorists will mysteriously meet up with various accidental endings.

So, whether Abid jumped, fell, or was pushed, some small amount of justice was served. Only a thousand or so more to go.
