The Shabak (Shin Bet / Israel’s Security Agency) reports that the driver in Friday’s attack, Ala Qabha (26), admitted to interrogators that he purposely drove his car into the soldiers as a terror attack.
Qhaba murdered an IDF officer and a soldier, and wounded two more solders in his terror attack near Mevo Dotan, in the northern Shomron, on Friday afternoon.
One of the surviving soldiers is very seriously wounded and is still fighting for his life. The second is in moderate condition.
Investigators say Qhaba made a U-Turn and hit the the officer and soldier who were standing between their jeep and the pillbox. He then hit the second pair of soldiers who were standing behind the security pillbox.
Qhaba’s family insists it was a car accident and not a terror attack. Qhaba had been released from prison a year ago after serving time for a security related offense, which his family described as “only stone throwing or something.”
He had served 17 months in jail for planning an attack on Mevo Dotan.
Following the attack, the IDF arrested the terrorist’s brother.
Hamas praised the attack.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, said on Saturday evening, “From the depths of my heart, I send condolences to the families of the IDF officer and soldier who were murdered yesterday by a reprehensible terrorist and my best wishes for a quick recovery to the wounded.
We will work to demolish the home of the terrorist and will deal with him to the fullest extent of the law.”
