The family claims it was a traffic accident. There are unconfirmed reports that his brother was arrested a few days ago by security forces.

The handover happened at the IDF pillbox located between the Northern entrance to Efrat and the southern exit from Bethlehem.

According to local Arabs, Shahada first tried to hand himself over to the Palestinian Authority, but they refused to accept him.

The four soldiers, 1 man and 3 women, were taken to Sharei Tzedek hospital and listed as lightly wounded.
