Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is considering making a run for Congress.
The former mayor is planning soon to create an exploratory committee to consider the run, according to a report by the New York Post.
If he goes ahead, de Blasio would be challenging former US Representative Max Rose in the Democratic primary set for June. Rose was defeated in the 2020 election by Staten Island Republican Representative Nicole Malliotakis.
A new redistricting plan that was recently approved by the State Legislature expands the 11th Congressional District to include several liberal neighborhoods in addition to Park Slope, where de Blasio lives.
The former mayor is paying for a private survey asking voters in the new district whether they would support him in a race, according to the report.
De Blasio ran for president in the 2020 race but was forced to drop out a year early after he gained only one percent of support in national polls.
